Familiar textiles, made a little differently.
smitti started with a love of creativity — the colors, patterns and unexpected combinations that can make something familiar feel entirely unique and new.
Each bag begins with the fabric. From classic cotton bandanas to vintage, deadstock and woven textiles, materials are chosen for their color, texture and character, then paired in combinations you might not expect. A familiar paisley is reworked in a new palette. Two contrasting fabrics become one. A textile traditionally meant for something else finds a completely different purpose.
Every smiiti bag is individually cut and sewn in Boston, MA. The fabrics are backed and structured by hand, transforming soft textiles into a compact, sculptural silhouette designed to hold its shape while still feeling distinctly textile.
Because each piece is cut individually, pattern placement varies from bag to bag. Each bag is one of a kind. With vintage and deadstock fabrics, sometimes there is only enough material to make a handful — or just one. They're part of what makes each smitti its own.
The inspiration is a mix of Scandinavian simplicity, vintage textiles, unexpected mixing, color drenching, familiar styles and the idea that materials can become something special when they're looked at differently.

Why bandanas?
The first smitti bags began with the bandana — an everyday piece of cotton that has been worn, collected and reimagined for generations.
We loved the idea of taking something so recognizable and changing the way you see it. Each bandana is deconstructed, paired by color and pattern, reinforced with substantial cotton structure, and rebuilt into the signature smitti silhouette.
